Recruitment notice: Project Manager

Local Youth Corner Cameroon (LOYOC), a prominent national non-profit organization dedicated to youth empowerment and peacebuilding, is actively recruiting a highly accomplished Project Manager to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will be based in either Yaounde or Bamenda, Cameroon, with a targeted start date of June 2024.

About LOYOC Founded in 2002, LOYOC is a youth-led organization committed to fostering youth inclusion, participation, and development across Cameroon. Through diverse initiatives such as training, peer education, sports, and policy advocacy, we strive to create an enabling environment for young people to thrive. Our headquarters are in Yaounde, with four additional operational offices throughout the country.

The Role As Project Manager, you will play a critical role in the successful execution of our diverse projects, contributing significantly to our mission of promoting peace and preventing youth radicalization. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from conception and planning to implementation and evaluation. Your ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams, handle multiple project activities concurrently, and maintain strong organizational skills will be essential to your success in this role.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Project Manager will spearhead the implementation of a critical Youth, Peace, and Security initiative in Cameroon, a collaborative effort between Local Youth Corner Cameroon (LOYOC) and the Dellaire Institute. This leadership role demands strategic vision, operational expertise, and a passion for peacebuilding to drive high-impact results for the project and contribute to wider organizational learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide clear direction and guidance to ensure project goals align with LOYOC’s and the Dellaire Institute’s broader objectives.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of project implementation, from planning and budgeting to execution and evaluation, ensuring timely and effective delivery of project milestones.
  • Financial Stewardship: Manage project finances meticulously, ensuring accurate reporting, monitoring, and compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Impact Assessment: Track and measure project impact, both quantitatively and qualitatively, reporting on progress and outcomes to key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate the dissemination of key learnings and best practices within the project team and across both organizations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, ideally within the peacebuilding or youth development sectors.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of peacebuilding concepts and frameworks, along with a passion for promoting youth engagement in conflict resolution.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and grants.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, while fostering a collaborative team environment.
