Job Objectives
- Monitor and follow up with customers to ensure timely and effective collection of debts.
- Investigate and pursue the recovery of both current and overdue accounts, ensuring payments owed to the bank are collected.
- Implement proactive Operational Risk Management strategies aimed at reducing operational losses, while ensuring compliance with banking regulations.
- Focus on maximizing debt recovery through strategic negotiation and settlement techniques with former customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously review effective recovery strategies to meet set recovery targets.
- Oversee and review delinquent enterprise loan accounts managed by the Area Business Office.
- Ensure strict compliance with established guidelines, internal policies, and procedures regarding Non-Performing Loans (NPL).
- Continuously enhance processes to improve productivity and work quality in debt recovery.
- Ensure adherence to Money Laundering and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulatory requirements.
- Identify accounts with potential for recovery and implement appropriate recovery measures.
- Allocate recovery targets and regularly review performance to manage NPL accounts.
- Prepare and review restructuring, rescheduling, and compromised settlements with sound, analytical justification for approval and implementation.
- Ensure borrowers comply with the terms of restructured, rescheduled, and compromised settlements.
- Coordinate collection activities with internal departments and external agencies, resolving any issues in the recovery process.
- Use skip tracing techniques and other methods to locate debtors with delinquent accounts, including credit reports and government agency data.
- Ensure timely liquidation of collector and smooth progress of litigation actions.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies on account classification, loss provision adequacy, suspension of interest, collateral valuation updates, and accurate accounting of recoveries in the Profit & Loss (P&L) statement.
- Review all recovery management reports to ensure accuracy and timely submission to management.
- Create risk awareness among bank employees.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction in the recovery process.
Key Performance Indicators
- Timely submission of risk reports.
- Consistent and accurate data collection for analysis.
- Realistic and thorough stress testing reports.
Education Requirements
- A first degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Postgraduate and/or professional qualifications in accounting (e.g., ACA, ACCA, MBA) are highly desirable.
Experience
- 4 to 8 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
