Recruitment Notice: Case Workers for Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence (CP & GBV)

  • Position: CP & GBV Case Workers
  • Reports to: Psychologist
  • Location: Ako, Kambe, Fomtem, Alu, Mamfé, Bachuo-akagbe
  • Contract Type: Fixed Term
  • Availability: November 2024

Primary Objective and Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the CP & GBV Case Workers is to provide comprehensive and timely case management to individuals experiencing protection concerns. This includes needs assessments, the development and implementation of personalized case plans, and ongoing follow-up support. A key aspect of this role is fostering a climate of trust and care for each client.

Key Duties:

  • Conduct Intake Interviews: Identify individuals during outreach activities or through referrals from other agencies. Open a case file if vulnerability criteria are met.
  • Comprehensive Client Assessments: With the client’s consent, perform in-depth assessments considering emotional, behavioral, and social factors that influence their psychosocial well-being, alongside evaluating protection and risk factors.
  • Home Visits: When necessary, assess the client’s living conditions through home visits.
  • Develop Tailored Case Plans: Collaboratively create a personalized action plan based on the client’s specific needs identified during the assessment.
  • Service Referrals: Refer clients to appropriate services and, when needed, accompany them to external service providers.
  • Emotional Support and Counseling: Offer ongoing emotional support and counseling through regular follow-up meetings, ensuring confidentiality and maintaining trust.
  • Document Case Progress: Record all actions and significant changes in the client’s psychosocial condition using the internal case management system.
  • Data Confidentiality and Archiving: Ensure all case files are properly stored to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Case Closure: Close cases when the objectives set in the case plan have been met and no further support is required.
  • Adhere to Protection Principles: Implement all tasks following key protection principles, including non-discrimination, confidentiality, and do no harm.
  • Team Coordination: Actively participate in internal case management meetings and promptly alert the team leader of any urgent or special needs cases.
  • Collaboration with Service Providers: Maintain good relationships with local service providers to facilitate timely referrals and information sharing.
  • Identify Service Gaps: Report any gaps in service availability or quality within the intervention areas.

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Education: A university degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology) is advantageous. Training in humanitarian protection, GBV, child protection, and survivor-centered case management is an asset.
  • Experience:
    1. Minimum of 2 years of humanitarian experience, ideally within associations, NGOs, or INGOs.
    2. At least 1 year of field experience in the NW or SW regions during times of crisis.
    3. Prior experience in social work or a similar context is required.
    4. Experience in collaboration with UNHCR projects is beneficial.
    5. Team management experience at a similar level for at least one year is a plus.
  • Technical Competencies:
    1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    2. Familiarity with web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) and online communication platforms (Skype, Teams, Zoom, WebEx).
    3. Experience using Web 2.0 tools (cloud storage, webmail, etc.).
  • Language Skills:
    1. Fluent in both written and spoken English.
    2. Strong writing and reporting capabilities.
    3. Proficiency in Pidgin English is essential.
