Science by Women, launched by the Women for Africa Foundation (Fundación Mujeres por África), is celebrating its 10th edition this year. This program offers postdoctoral fellowships specifically designed for African women scientists, aiming to strengthen their leadership in scientific research, in partnership with leading Spanish research centers. Since its inception, more than 150 women have already benefited from this initiative, and this new edition aims to surpass 175 awardees.

Science by Women Scholarship Amount
Selected candidates will receive the following benefits:
- Round-trip airfare from their home city to their host city.
- A monthly stipend of €2,600 gross, subject to a 24% tax.
- Coverage of visa fees and administrative costs related to the visa application process.
- Possible financial support to participate in seminars or conferences during the fellowship period in Spain.
Duration of the Fellowship
The Science by Women fellowship has a duration of six months.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
General eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Be a woman and hold citizenship and residency in an African country.
- Hold a Ph.D. in a scientific field.
- Have a contractual relationship with a university or a public or private organization based in Africa dedicated to scientific research.
- Demonstrate an excellent academic record and proven research experience.
- Have a strong working knowledge of English. Proof of English proficiency will be valued.
Science by Women focuses on key sectors for Africa’s development, such as health, agriculture, food security, water, energy, and climate change.

- A motivation letter (maximum one page).
- A comprehensive curriculum vitae, preferably in Europass format.
- Passport or identity document.
- A support letter.
- A concise research proposal (maximum 2 pages).
- Confirmation of the research proposal by the chosen Spanish host entity.
- A duly completed online form.
