The united states embassy in cameroon is looking for Plumber Team Lead

Duties

Performs US standards Commercial Journeyman level plumbing work, installation and preventive maintenance at Embassy Chancery and compound, Marine Security Guard Quarters, all United States Government-owned and leased properties at Post, including the Embassy Branch Office and residence in Douala periodically, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Peace Corps office buildings as needed. Works as scheduled in rotation basis as duty technician on 24 hours basis. Incumbent receives supervision from the Senior Building Engineer and receives strategic work guidance from the Facility Manager.

Incumbent will work at the New Embassy Compound, 70 residences spread throughout Yaounde, and provide support to CDC and Peace Corps buildings. The incumbent is the supervisor of the plumbing team consisting of 07 plumbing technicians, providing the day-to-day supervision of this team, setting work priorities, and checking performance and quality of work along with writing their yearly performance evaluations. The incumbent in close cooperation with the Facility Manager assures an accurate 5 year budget submission into GMMS for heavy life cycle replacement/repairs/new installation of all plumbing related equipment at the NEC and 60 leased residences. The incumbent ensures completion of work orders and correct documentation of labor and material used; this person also orders material needed and coordinates with other offices for delivery of material, tools and equipment to allow completion of the work by the plumbing team.

Qualifications and Evaluations 

Requirements: 

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years experience working as a journey-level plumber in the repair and maintenance of plumbing/mechanical systems in an international organization, commercial or industrial facilities, which will include a minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience. Must have experience working with PVC, CPVC, copper, galvanized, concrete, and black pipe; circulation and well pumps, and advanced controls and water treatment equipment is required. 

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to read and understand modern plumbing schematics on installation and repairs. Must have full journeyman knowledge of established practices and procedures of the plumbing trade and instruct 7 subordinate plumbers to meet demanding plumbing rigors of Yaounde. Incumbent must have expertise in modern western commercial plumbing means and methods with a clear understanding of current American plumbing codes.

Incumbent must know more advanced methods of commercial plumbing practices to meet the rigors of domestic water/wastewater and high-pressure fire suppression system operations and sophisticated water treatment controls. The incumbent is required to have a thorough, technical understanding of major building plumbing/mechanical systems and equipment, with a specialty in plumbing systems.

Familiarization with general mechanical systems, including domestic hot and cold-water piping systems, wastewater piping systems and vent stacks, storm water management systems, chilled water systems, water treatment facilities, swimming pool equipment, fire suppression systems, compressed air systems, and irrigation systems is required. Familiarization with the many different types of pipe and fittings (PVC and CPVC, copper, galvanized, concrete, black, etc.) is required. Must know how to diagnose the root cause of a problem and what materials and equipment will be needed to facilitate repairs. Must know how to work safely on equipment, systems and associated components including the use of lock-out / tag-out safety measure. Knowledge of IBC standards, and fire and life safety codes is required. 

These may be tested. 

Education Requirements:

  •  Completion of High School (GCE “A” level, BACC, or equivalent) is required.
  • Completion of vocational training program from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level plumbers and mechanical system specialist trained in the maintenance of commercial or industrial buildings/facilities is required. Training through a recognized apprenticeship program provided by a trade union is considered acceptable.

Evaluations: 

LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge (Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English is required. Limited knowledge (Speaking/Reading/Writing) in French is required. These may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

    • Fiscal — Must be able to make mission wide plumbing / water works budget.
    • Subordinate management – Must be able to closely supervise, mentor, create daily/weekly/monthly goals for 5 subordinate plumbers to maximize work order flow efficiency, ensuring they have the correct parts and tools to complete their daily tasks safely. Must be able to write well thought out yearly Employee Performance Reports for each 7 plumbers under supervision.
  • Ability to use all tools of trade such as pipe threading machines, soft welding, etc. Use of a variety of plumbing tools safely on all jobs. Ability to identify the plumbing problems quickly. Must have a local valid driver license (category B). Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted. The incumbent must be skilled at reading and interpreting technical documents including layout drawings, as-built drawings, riser diagrams, equipment schedules, operations and maintenance manuals, and other manufacturer’s literature.

The Resource Coordination Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Resource Coordination Specialist, and is the Public Diplomacy (PD) Locally Employed Staff responsible for managing all administrative aspects of the PD Section. Supports Established Opinion Leaders (EOL), Emerging Voices (EV), and Strategic Content Coordination (SCC) specialists and assistants for exchanges and other public engagement programs and activities. Supports grants administration; tracks and collaborates on PD budgets and expenditures. Oversees PD section time & attendance, staff travel, representation, vouchers, and other administrative tasks; manages program calendars. Serves as the primary point of contact for the PD Section, ensuring that visitors receive accurate and timely information with the highest levels of customer service.

Qualifications and Evaluations 

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in administrative services, procurement, customer service, or events management is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of U.S. foreign policy objectives and American interests in Cameroon; understanding of regional, ethnic, socio-economic, cultural and linguistic factors and the influence of religious, cultural and educational institutions in shaping perceptions of the U.S. are all required. Comprehensive knowledge of Cameroonian geography, infrastructure, government institutions, and common business and banking practices is required. Knowledge of customer service in Cameroon is required. Must have an understanding of communications in Cameroon and the international information environment as it affects Cameroon, and must be familiar with digital practices and procedures.

Education Requirements: 

University degree in Business Administration, Financial Management, Organizational Management, Accounting, Public Administration, or local equivalent is required.
Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Fluency in English and French (speaking/reading/writing) are required. This may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

Analytic skills: Must have strong analytic skills to manage funding from multiple sources, each with differing requirements for purpose, oversight and accounting. Must be able to accurately assess resource challenges and identify solutions, including those that address sensitive resource challenges. Must be able to perceive significant changes in PD operations and adjust operations in response. 

Communication/Interpersonal skills: Must have excellent customer relations, and interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing reports in both English and French. Must be able to work effectively with Mission personnel and Cameroonian institutions on PD operations and resources, including on sensitive or contentious financial topics. Must be able to brief U.S. officers and visitors on appropriate uses of funding from multiple sources and other resource and funding issues governing Public Diplomacy. 

Management Skills: Strong management skills are required, including the ability to develop and oversee logistics with partner institutions and manage complex PD/Mission events. 

Technical Skills: Good keyboarding and data entry skills are required; excellent familiarity with electronic discovery tools, in particular the Internet, and standard information retrieval practices and procedures are required. Thorough, detailed knowledge of and ability to use various computer software programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases, as well as PD-specific software, databases, and reporting tools is required. Knowledge of and ability to support PD use of digital and visual tools is required. Must have excellent numerical skills to be able to manipulate numbers with speed, to process personnel and travel documents, develop equipment lists and supply orders, and monitor PD budgets.

Availability: Must be available to travel throughout Cameroon to support PD projects and activities.

Activités principales

Pour les activités du dépositaire

    • Faire le lien entre le front et le back office dans la procédure d’entrée en portefeuille d’un nouveau client ; 
    • Veiller à la mise en place de la feuille de route pour la gestion d’un OPCVM entrant en portefeuille ; 
  • Assurer le re-calcul des valeurs liquidatives de tous les fonds d’OPC dont la banque est dépositaire ; 
  • Exécuter les transaction liées à la gestion du passif des fonds, dans le système d’information ;
  • Effectuer avec la SG le rapprochement quotidien des positions titres et espèces des portefeuilles des fonds, des parts en circulation ;

Profil

The Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA) is looking for Project Coordinator – Bamenda – Cameroon – M/F

CONTEXT 

In the North West (NW), ALIMA intends to implement a project with two interventions: a short-term emergency intervention and a COVID 19 response and mitigation. Whereas the exploratory mission will help the organisation understand the exact medical needs of the population on the ground, the second one will aim at strengthening strategies in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. The activities in the NW shall include training of health care workers as well as mitigating the affected population’s access to primary health care, obstetric & gynaecological, paediatrics and nutritional interventions. The project targets Internally Displaced Persons, the host community and other populations at risk.

PROTECTION OF BENEFICIARIES AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY 

As part of his or her duties, the incumbent will be required to visit programs and be in contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, a criminal record check or presentation of a certificate of good character will be required. MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES 

The Project Coordinator is responsible for ALIMA operational response in the Project. In close collaboration with the mission coordination team, define and plan the Project objectives and priorities, identifying population’s health and humanitarian needs, analyzing the context and the humanitarian issues at stake, the risks and constraints and calculating human and financial needs. Coordinates, in close collaboration with the Head of Mission, its implementation.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

    •  Supervises the political and humanitarian situation in the project’s
    •  Evaluates all needs by identifying the population’s health status, by analysing the context (environment, actors involved, negotiations for access etc.) and associated risks and constraints
  •  Monitor the security situation in the area of intervention, propose security guidelines and guarantee their implementation
  •  Proposes and carries out exploratory missions
  •  Ensures a data collection and epidemiological surveillance system, in agreement with the Medical Coordinator
  •  Steers and supervises the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the project team and according to the internal and donor indicators
  •  Provides reporting to the coordination team on project’s evolution and propose corrections if needed
  •  Elaborates the Project’s institutional memory, keeping written records (and file them) on its development
  •  Supervises full implementation of safety and health protocols, reporting the Medical Coordination on risky behaviors’
  •  Identifies training needs, provides individual follow up and coaching,
  •  Supervises the project material resources put at ALIMA’s disposition
  •  Supervises all orders (medical and logistical) and the Project’s purchases as well as the financial indicators, with the support of the coordination, in order ensure efficiency and early detect deviations and its causes

Experience and Skills

  •  University degree or paramedical diploma/degree desirable.
  •  Previous experiences in humanitarian aid
  •  Experiences with international medical NGOs & experience in project management are desirable.
  •  Experience in security management is highly desirable.
  •  English Speaking, reading, and writing are mandatory. French is an asset.
  •  Essential computer literacy (word, excel & internet).

  •  Ensure the implementation and monitoring of Farmer Field Schools in its area of intervention.

4. Coordination of the implementation of community development projects in its area.

  •  Plan and contribute to the sensitization of the leaders of the pre-selected cooperatives/organizations and their communities for full membership in the projects of the Child Labor Monitoring and Remediation System, and community development projects implemented by Barry Callebaut Cameroon and its partners, together with the Sales Representative in its region;

5. Support in the implementation of specific projects

  •  Facilitate the organization of surveys or feasibility studies within the framework of specific projects.
  •  Interact with the teams in his area and report if necessary, as part of the implementation of specific projects by third-party organizations in the cooperatives/organizations in his area.

6. Payment of producer premium

  •  Contribute to raising awareness among cooperatives/organizations and producers on the digital payment of premiums;

About You:

  •  Minimum of a university degree at Bachelor’s/Master’s level, or an equivalent degree in Agriculture, Plant production, agricultural techniques, quality management, Marketing and finance, etc.
