Ajinomoto Scholarships in Japan 2024

The Ajinomoto Foundation announces the launch of its prestigious scholarship program for the 2024 academic year. This program aims to support international students who have a strong desire to pursue postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD) in Japan. The scholarships are specifically targeted towards the fields of food, nutrition, and health, with the objective of promoting and facilitating access to high-quality education in these crucial areas that have a significant impact on global well-being and public health.

Under this program, the Foundation is ofering ten (10) exceptional scholarships, each providing a monthly stipend of USD 978. This financial support is intended to assist students with their tuition fees and living expenses throughout their academic journey in Japan. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their applications by the deadline of May 20, 2024.

Ajinomoto Scholarship Funding

The Ajinomoto Foundation Scholarship provides a stipend of 150,000 yen per month and is applicable for up to two years.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for the Ajinomoto Foundation Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions and submit their applications according to the specified guidelines through their university:

  • International Student Status: Applicants must be international students primarily from Asia, Africa, or South America, who have come to Japan with the intention of pursuing extensive studies and research in the specialized field of “food, nutrition, and health.”
  • Enrollment Criteria: Applicants must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a master’s or doctoral program at a Japanese higher education institution.
  • Academic and Personal Merit: Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic performance, possess outstanding moral qualities, exhibit a genuine passion for learning, and present a clear need for financial assistance.
  • Age Limit: Applicants should be under 30 years old as of April 1, 2024.
  • Letter of Recommendation: Applicants must be able to furnish a letter of recommendation from the dean of the graduate school or an academic supervisor (professor or lecturer).

Application Procedure

  1. Interested applicants must submit their application packets to the president of the Ajinomoto Association. Applications should be sent exclusively through the Japanese higher education institution where the applicants are currently registered.

Ajinomoto Scholarships Eligibility

  1. Ajinomoto Scholarships will be awarded to students who have already been accepted into a Japanese university for postgraduate studies. It is essential that applicants are admitted to a master’s or doctoral program at the time of applying for this scholarship.
