Position Overview: Sensory Coordinator

Role Summary

As a Sensory Coordinator, you will oversee all sensory testing activities, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with industry standards. You’ll manage client complaints by identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures, contributing directly to product excellence and customer satisfaction. Additionally, you will be responsible for documentation management as per established procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sensory Analysis: Conduct product sensory tests promptly, adhering to protocols and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Documentation: Ensure all analysis records are well-documented, verified, and regularly backed up.
  • Complaint Management: Lead root cause analysis for sensory deviations and client complaints, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Compliance & Audits: Perform weekly self-audits of the sensory lab and ensure alignment with GLP requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Manage sensory lab consumables, ensuring sufficient stock levels and timely ordering.
  • Sample Management: Coordinate the shipment of product samples for sensory profile analysis, reviewing results and addressing any deviations.
  • Team Development: Plan and execute recruitment and training for sensory panelists, ensuring high-performance standards.
  • Reporting: Generate monthly reports on claim status, root causes, and implemented solutions.
  • Document Management: Update and maintain records, ensuring compliance with quality documentation systems (QDS).
  • Training: Educate staff on document management systems and functionality.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Bac +3/4) in Physics-Chemistry, Microbiology, QHSE, or related fields.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of the cocoa industry is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of documentation management.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in laboratory analysis and GLP protocols.
  • Experience in managing end-to-end client complaints.
  • Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, Claim systems, QDS, and SAP.
  • Strong analytical, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Competence in MS Office Suite.

Position Overview: Head of Civil and Infrastructure Center of Expertise

As the Head of Civil & Infrastructure Center of Expertise, you will define and lead the technical scope for large-scale, complex projects across the organization, managing both global and end-to-end initiatives. The role involves overseeing a portfolio of 10 to 15 projects per year, each with budgets ranging from 2 to 50 million CHF (average budget of 15 million CHF). Your stakeholder interactions will primarily involve senior-level negotiations and decision-making at L3 and L4 levels.

You will also play a pivotal role in driving Barry Callebaut’s technical standards, collaborating with the Global Senior Engineer BC Standards and a network of CSD professionals to evaluate, define, and implement the standards for civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the organization’s global clusters and locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative Leadership: Partner with Plant Managers, Project Engineering Execution Directors, Project Managers, and Capex Planning Directors to align on project objectives, technical requirements, and best practices.
  • Expert Positioning: Provide expertise in engineering execution teams, focusing on maintenance, process management, and project management best practices.
  • Department Leadership: Lead and develop the Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Department, managing resources, providing training, and offering direct guidance to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Operational Planning and Problem-Solving: Design and execute operational plans for launching complex projects. Identify and address operational issues to minimize delays and ensure resource availability for engineering tasks.
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee corporate projects from the pre-IP phase and support the engineering execution in the post-IP phase.
  • Footprint and Master Plan Studies: Lead studies related to factory layouts and master plans, particularly in civil and utility-related aspects of major projects and processes.
  • Development of Technical Standards: Support the development and deployment of technical standards in alignment with business strategy, ensuring that all team members understand and apply the standards.
  • Specification Setting: Define the technical specifications for main equipment and production processes, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic goals.
  • Long-Term Strategy for Future Factories: Contribute to the development of the long-term strategy for Barry Callebaut’s factories, particularly regarding process flows and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration with Technical Sourcing: Work alongside Technical Sourcing teams to drive strategic purchasing decisions and establish long-term partnerships with suppliers of key process equipment.

About You:

  • Education & Experience: A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with significant experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects. At least 10 years of experience in a leadership position within civil engineering or infrastructure development.

You will manage a portfolio of large-scale, complex projects involving civil engineering and infrastructure (including smart buildings and utilities), each with budgets ranging from 2 to 50 million CHF. With a focus on global initiatives, you will lead cross-functional teams, influencing senior stakeholders and driving decisions across more than 10 locations.

This role will require you to work closely with engineering teams to establish technical standards, manage project delivery, and optimize processes. Additionally, you will lead efforts related to Industry 4.0 developments, such as smart technologies, data mining, and process automation, while ensuring the integration of hygienic design in our food processing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Global Leadership: Manage a portfolio of 10-15 major projects annually across multiple regions, steering civil engineering and infrastructure initiatives for factories, offices, warehouses, and more.
  • Civil and Infrastructure Expertise: Lead the development and implementation of technical standards for civil infrastructure, including smart building solutions and utility management, in line with Barry Callebaut’s global vision.
  • Project Management: Oversee project execution from design to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Management: Lead and influence key stakeholders at senior levels (Directors, VPs) and ensure alignment across the organization’s leadership teams.
  • Operational Excellence: Apply knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability across facilities.
  • Industry 4.0 Integration: Lead the integration of cutting-edge smart technologies, including Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), smart tech, and data mining tools, to optimize factory operations and improve performance.

About You:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (specializing in construction and utilities).
  • 15+ years of experience in the manufacturing and process industries, with a strong background in civil engineering, project management, and process automation.
  • 10+ years of experience leading multiple technical departments and managing large-scale projects across global locations, especially in a matrix organization.
  • Proven experience in hygienic design within the food processing industry, along with familiarity with chocolate manufacturing processes.
  • Expertise in Industry 4.0 technologies and smart tech advancements, with a focus on automation, data analytics, and smart infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with TPM, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong budgeting and financial analysis skills, including the ability to develop business cases and manage capital expenditures.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of French, German, or additional languages is an advantage.
  • Extensive leadership experience, including situational leadership and influencing senior stakeholders for decisions and approvals.
