About Ashinaga

Founded in Japan in 1963, Ashinaga is a non-profit international organization dedicated to supporting orphans and children who have lost one or both parents. For decades, Ashinaga has extended its assistance to students in sub-Saharan Africa, offering them access to quality education and empowering them to achieve their potential.

Comprehensive Support and Benefits of the Ashinaga Scholarship

The Ashinaga Scholarship provides holistic support to orphaned students, ensuring access to higher education while offering significant financial and developmental aid.

Scholarship Benefits:

  1. Monthly Allowance: To cover daily living expenses.
  2. University Tuition Fees: Fully paid.
  3. Housing Costs: Fully covered.
  4. International Travel: A flight or train ticket between your home country and the study destination.
  5. Settlement Support: Financial aid to facilitate a smooth transition to the host country.

In addition to material assistance, scholars participate in leadership training programs, designed to develop their skills and help them become compassionate and engaged changemakers in their communities.

Monthly Allowance Amounts

The monthly allowance varies depending on the country of study. For instance:

  • Studies in France: €400 per month.

This amount is adjusted based on the cost of living in the destination country.

Number of Scholarships Awarded

Each year, Ashinaga selects one student per country, making this scholarship highly competitive.

Scholarship Duration

The duration depends on the chosen academic program and typically lasts 3 to 5 years, corresponding to the length of the undergraduate degree.

Choice of Study Destination

The study destination is decided in collaboration with the student during the Ashinaga Summer Camp. However, the final decision is made by the Ashinaga organization.

Eligibility Criteria for the Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) 2025

To qualify for the Ashinaga Africa Initiative 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Age: Be under 23 years old at the time of application.
  2. Orphan Status: Have lost one or both parents.
  3. Citizenship and Education: Be a citizen of a sub-Saharan African country and have completed or be completing secondary school in this region.
  4. Academic Excellence: Consistently rank among the top-performing students in high school and, if applicable, at university.
  5. Minimum Grades: Achieve a minimum average score of 14/20 on the Baccalaureate.
  6. Commitment: Pledge to return to sub-Saharan Africa after completing studies to contribute to the region’s development.
  7. Family Responsibilities: Must not have dependents.
  8. Health: Be in good physical and mental health to undertake international studies.

How to Apply for the Ashinaga Africa Initiative?

Online Application Only:

All applications must be submitted through an online application form.

Required Documents:

All supporting documents should be uploaded in PDF or JPEG format.

Application Deadline:

Submit your application no later than December 31, 2024.
