Benefits of the Italian government scholarship
The Italian government offers a generous grant of 9,000 euros per year, spread over quarterly payments, to support talented students. In addition, scholarship holders are exempt from registration and tuition fees, and benefit from full health coverage for the entire duration of the scholarship. The duration of the scholarship varies between 3 and 9 months, adapting to the level of study of each beneficiary. Please note that the exemption from registration fees does not apply to language and cultural stays.
Eligibility criteria
- Age: Applicants for Bachelor’s, Master’s and language stay programs must be under 28 years of age at the application deadline. For PhD students, the age limit is 30 years. There is no age limit for research programs.
- Diploma:
- Bachelor: Bachelor’s scholarships are reserved for the fields of arts, music and dance. Master: A Bachelor’s degree is required for admission to the first year of a Master’s degree, and an M1 or a Master’s degree for admission to the second year.
- PhD: Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Italian university concerned and provide a letter of admission to the PhD program.
- Language stay: Scholarships are intended for students enrolled in an Italian course at an Italian university or cultural institute.
- Research: Applicants must submit a research project, the contact details of their research director and a letter of invitation/acceptance from the host institution.

Academic qualifications: Obtained diploma(s) and complete transcripts.

- A B2 level certification in Italian if you are applying for a program in Italian.
- A B2 level certification in English if you are applying for a program in English.
