Project Objective:
The Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Hub (GenDev) of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) operates within the Bureau for Inclusive Growth, Partnerships, and Innovation (IPI), as one of five specialized hubs. GenDev advocates for gender equality and women’s empowerment, viewing these as essential components for upholding human rights and achieving sustainable development outcomes. The Hub collaborates with Agency Operating Units (OUs) worldwide, supporting USAID’s programs across sectors. Through technical outreach, thought leadership, training, technical assistance, and communication efforts, GenDev promotes evidence-based gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives agency-wide. GenDev also assists missions in complying with policy and legal requirements by conducting and utilizing gender analyses to inform strategic planning and project design. USAID/Cameroon is currently developing a strategic framework (SF) to steer future investments and programming efforts.
The USAID/Cameroon gender and inclusive development analysis will prioritize sectors aligned with USAID Cameroon’s ongoing programs to inform the development of their forthcoming strategic framework. These sectors include Health, Democracy, Rights, and Governance (DRG), focusing on consultations with local Cameroonian entities and exploring opportunities within the development and humanitarian landscape. The gender and inclusive development analysis aims to achieve two key objectives:
- Identifying nationwide gender gaps and root causes of gender inequalities relevant to the aforementioned sectors and targeted marginalized groups.
- Highlighting opportunities to bridge gender gaps and address root causes of gender inequality to advance sectoral objectives and promote gender equality and inclusive development.
