Key Responsibilities
As Head of Technology & Information Security, you will be responsible for achieving the following key objectives:
Strategic Implementation
- Execute the functional strategy as guided by the department lead.
- Support in the development and implementation of sub-functional strategies that adapt to both internal and external changes.
- Continuously assess and align sub-functional strategies with evolving organizational goals.
Leadership and People Management
- Recruit, onboard, and manage talent while adhering to regulatory requirements and directives from the CEO.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture that encourages open communication and teamwork.
- Define team roles, set KPIs, and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Develop and implement tailored training programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Manage and monitor resource performance in line with HR policies and legislation.
- Cultivate a Fintech-focused and partnership-driven approach to ensure alignment with group governance and create strong cross-functional relationships.
Operational Leadership
- As the leader of the Information Security vertical, ensure all actions comply with Group guidelines.
- Measure and report the true value of the sub-function to the organization, driving continuous improvements.
- Align the efforts of the Information Security vertical with organizational objectives, ensuring measurable impact and sustainable growth.
Delivery Leadership
As the leader overseeing Information Security in the delivery space, your role entails strategic oversight, data-driven decision-making, and accountability across key areas:
- Strategy & Analytics, Budget Management, Data, and Reporting
- Implement and enforce policies, procedures, and guidelines as directed by the functional lead, ensuring full team compliance.
- Ensure strict adherence to governance mechanisms, under the supervision of the CEO Fintech, while guiding the team to do the same.
- Apply the Group Fintech budget, analytics, and reporting structure within your sub-function, as instructed by the CEO.
- Continuously assess the efficiency of Information Security strategies and suggest improvements for greater effectiveness.
Information Security Operations
Lead the strategic execution of Group Security Governance and security policies, ensuring alignment with both corporate governance and international security standards:
- Spearhead the development and implementation of the MMC-wide security plan, ensuring full alignment with Group Strategy and security protocols.
- Ensure the application of MTN Group Information Security standards, guidelines, and processes, along with Group DigiFin security requirements.
- Oversee the integration of new security solutions into operations, ensuring minimal disruption and enhancing the security framework around the organization’s assets and networks.
- Respond swiftly to security risks and fraudulent activities, leveraging expert reports and recommendations to mitigate risks.
- Drive security awareness by coordinating training sessions, building a comprehensive knowledge repository, and distributing governance documents to promote compliance with security standards, policies, and procedures across all employees.
- Collaborate with the Group Technology Team in the design and review of security architecture, ensuring its successful implementation.
- Lead the testing, adaptation, and piloting of new security services, with an emphasis on ensuring operational continuity and minimizing impact.
- Develop detailed short- and long-term implementation roadmaps that address and meet identified security requirements.
- Collaborate with the Ethics, Risk, and Compliance team to develop business continuity and disaster recovery plans that ensure rapid, effective responses to potential disasters.
- Establish and maintain relationships with government representatives, as required.
- Escalate unresolved issues to the CEO when necessary.
- Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum 3 years) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
- An MBA/Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
- Professional qualifications: CISM, CISSP, ITIL, TOGAF, CCIO
Experience
- A minimum of 8 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- At least 3 years of experience in Fintech, banking, or Mobile Money sectors.
- Proven experience in global/multinational enterprises, particularly with emerging markets.
- Expertise in Technical Architecture for Mobile Technologies, IT applications, and VAS platforms.
- Strong familiarity with AI/ML tools and Data Analytics.
- Proven ability to work across diverse cultures and geographies.
- A self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to lead fast-paced teams.
- Strong inclination towards innovation, inventiveness, and thought leadership.
