Job Offer: DIRECTOR of Sub Region

About Plan International

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization dedicated to advancing children’s rights and achieving gender equality for girls. We believe in the potential of every child, but recognize that challenges such as poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination often hinder this potential—especially for girls, who are disproportionately affected.

Working collaboratively with children, youth, supporters, and partners, we strive to create a just world by addressing the root causes of the difficulties faced by vulnerable children, especially girls. We support children’s rights from birth through adulthood, empowering them to respond to crises and overcome adversity. We advocate for changes in policy and practice at local, national, and global levels, leveraging our extensive experience and global reach.

For over 85 years, Plan International has mobilized a network of determined optimists to transform the lives of children in over 80 countries. Our mission continues until we achieve equality for all.

Our Work in West and Central Africa

Plan International operates in 15 countries across West and Central Africa, including 12 in West Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Togo, Senegal, and Sierra Leone; and 3 in Central Africa: Cameroon, Chad, and the Central African Republic (CAR).

Our approach in this region focuses on maximizing impact for children and youth, with a particular emphasis on girls. We act as a reliable partner for girls’ rights issues at the regional level, facilitating collaboration with regional and sub-regional institutions and networks.

Plan International collaborates with regional bodies, networks, and movements to advance children’s rights and promote gender equality for girls. Using evidence from our programs and the best practices of our partners, we work to empower youth, especially young women, through networking, capacity building, and support for youth-led initiatives that champion gender equality in West and Central Africa.

The West and Central Africa (WACA) Regional Hub fosters an environment that supports our teams in delivering gender-transformative programs with excellence. We are committed to making a meaningful impact by implementing innovative strategies and aligning them with Plan International’s core values.

This region has a budget of approximately €240 million for 2023 and employs over 10,000 people globally, with more than 2,300 staff based in the WACA region.
