Good Neighbors Cameroon (GNCMR) is a branch of the renowned international non-governmental organization, Good Neighbors International. With its headquarters in Yaoundé and field offices in Maroua and Mbalmayo, GNCMR focuses on transformative community development initiatives. The organization’s efforts encompass critical sectors such as food security, livelihoods, education, child protection, water, hygiene, sanitation, health, environmental sustainability, gender equality, and advocacy. Collaborating with international partners like the United Nations and other INGOs, GNCMR is dedicated to providing sustainable solutions to pressing development and humanitarian challenges.

Position Overview

The Logistic Assistant will work closely with organizational staff and volunteers to ensure efficient logistics operations, asset management, and seamless supply chain activities.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement and Administration

  • Manage supply chain operations, ensuring smooth coordination and timely delivery.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure cost-effective deals while maintaining quality.
  • Handle office supply orders, travel arrangements, meeting scheduling, visitor support, and invoice monitoring.
  • Ensure GNCMR logistics regulations are followed and train project staff as necessary.

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit detailed and accurate reports to management.
  • Maintain up-to-date internal shared documents and produce weekly/monthly country-specific logistics reports.

Building Maintenance

  • Oversee office maintenance tasks, supervise day laborers, and coordinate with service providers.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve maintenance needs.

Stock and Asset Management

  • Monitor stock levels and warehouse operations effectively.
  • Log and oversee asset usage, ensuring proper allocation and utilization.
  • Troubleshoot and address IT-related challenges, coordinating with service providers when necessary.

Fleet Management

  • Manage the organization’s vehicle fleet, ensuring proper scheduling, reservations, and administrative oversight.
  • Ensure adherence to vehicle safety standards and maintain a comprehensive fleet management system.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for the role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or related fields, with at least 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of academic and professional experience.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and IT tools.
  • Core Competencies:
    1. Expertise in warehouse organization, stock management, and planning techniques.
    2. Analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to summarize complex information.
    3. Adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to perform under pressure.
    4. Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and external partners.
    5. Integrity, proactive problem-solving, and a positive attitude.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel domestically and work in the field as needed.
  • Good physical health and fitness.
  • Experience with international NGOs is a valuable asset.

Recruitment Stages

  1. Application Pre-Selection
  • Applications are reviewed, and only shortlisted candidates are invited to proceed to the next stage.
  1. Written Technical Test
  • A physical written test evaluates technical and professional competencies.
  1. Oral Interview
  • Candidates who pass the written test participate in an oral interview to assess their skills, experience, and alignment with organizational values.
