Maersk, a global leader in logistics and transportation, is looking for an Operational Excellence Lead to support our depots in West and East Africa. In this role, you’ll lead key initiatives to streamline operations, enhance depot productivity, and foster a culture of Lean thinking and performance excellence.
What You’ll Do
As the Operational Excellence Lead, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and executing an Operational Excellence strategy aligned with Maersk’s regional and global objectives.
- Driving process improvements using methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
- Collaborating with depot workshop teams to ensure effective preventive and corrective maintenance for equipment.
- Engaging with OEMs and service providers for equipment-related strategic decisions.
- Leading cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that boost operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Creating and maintaining process frameworks, performance metrics, and best practices.
- Delivering training programs to enhance staff capabilities in continuous improvement tools and techniques.
- Tracking and analyzing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure improvement outcomes.
- Conducting site maturity assessments and implementing action plans to close performance gaps.
- Promoting a culture of Performance Management across regions.
Additional Responsibilities
- Host weekly check-in meetings with teams in East and West Africa to:
- Review ongoing actions and offer support where needed.
- Monitor the outcomes of completed projects.
- Align on next steps for pending initiatives.
- Coordinate a monthly strategic review with depot leadership in both regions.
What We’re Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics operations and process improvement.
- Proficiency in English and French.
- Strong command of Lean methodologies, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher), and Kaizen principles.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and drive data-based decisions.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring teams across different functions.
