Job Objectives
The Prepaid Card Officer is responsible for the development and positioning of digital banking products, specifically prepaid cards. This role involves understanding product performance and driving revenue by product type. The officer will ensure that the appropriate policies, processes, and partnerships are established to maximize returns for the bank while providing a competitive edge in the market.
Role & Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Oversee and analyze the Profit and Loss (P&L) for prepaid card products, providing monthly reports.
- Product Development: Collaborate with business leaders to create and implement product plans that support digital solutions.
- Innovation: Identify and introduce innovative services and enhancements to generate revenue, ensuring market leadership in product innovation.
- Promotions: Design and implement promotional strategies and rewards programs to boost product adoption and usage.
- Partnership Management: Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key vendors such as VISA, MasterCard, card processors, and e-commerce technology partners to enhance service efficiency and support.
- Performance Monitoring: Track the performance of existing and new card segments, working with marketing to create campaigns that drive activation, usage, and acquisition.
- Usage Analysis: Conduct monthly and quarterly analyses of product usage, including transaction values, counts, revenues, and comparisons of actual versus target performance.
- ROI Reporting: Produce reports on the Return on Investment (ROI) for both existing and new prepaid card products.
- Market Research: Gather and analyze research related to market trends, profitability, pricing, product positioning, and sales strategy.
- Competitive Analysis: Conduct monthly reviews to ensure product pricing and positioning align with industry standards and assist in developing strategies to enhance the bank’s competitive stance.
- Customer Feedback Management: Monitor customer complaints regarding card products and enhance processes to ensure products are user-friendly and reliable.
- Training: Develop and deliver ongoing product training for sales teams and key stakeholders in branch operations and customer service.
- Product Documentation: Create detailed product information guides covering features, functions, positioning, and pricing.
- Strategic Planning: Assist in planning new features and initiatives for digital products, acting as an advisor to the business.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with sales, IT, operations, and customer support to identify future product enhancements.
- Marketing Coordination: Partner with product marketing teams to promote prepaid card products and related services.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Phase out underperforming card products and develop transition plans.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure all relevant stakeholders are involved in product development, with established service level agreements (SLAs) for supporting existing and new products.
- Testing Coordination: Collaborate with business, IT, and operations to ensure thorough testing and documentation of key stakeholder approvals prior to product launch.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local regulations and best practices at both global and local levels.
- Risk Management: Identify and address operational, compliance, and IT risk elements within product processes, implementing safeguards to protect customer interests.
- Project Execution: Execute additional projects related to prepaid card products as assigned.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Customer Satisfaction Index (Internal): 100% quality support to the business.
- Customer Satisfaction Index (External): Rank in the top 3 for card business satisfaction.
- Digital Banking Products & Solutions PBT: Achieve 100% budget attainment against targets.
- Debit Card Penetration Rate: Maintain a penetration rate of at least 70%.
- Active Prepaid Cards Ratio: Achieve a minimum activity ratio of 70%.
- Prepaid Card Issuances (UBA Cards & Co-Branded Programs): Attain 75% of target issuance goals.
- Prepaid Card Transactions Count & Value: Reach 80% of target for transaction counts and values.
- PP Card Utilization: Achieve 75% utilization against targets.
- Prepaid Cards PBT: Attain 100% of budget expectations.
- Product Portfolio Enhancement: Increase portfolio appeal by at least 10% for DBC and PPC.
Education Requirements
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in any field or a relevant professional qualification.
Experience
- Minimum: 4 years of experience, with at least 2 years in banking and 2 years in a similar role.
