Position: Risk and Compliance Officer

WWF Cameroon is looking for a dynamic and committed Risk and Compliance Officer to join our team and help ensure effective financial and accounting operations in our office, contributing to the success of our conservation activities.
Department Mission
The department’s mission is to ensure the WWF Cameroon Office operates efficiently with strong financial management and internal controls. This role ensures the effective use of financial resources to support WWF’s conservation goals.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Country Director, the Risk and Compliance Officer will:
- Collaborate with the Finance & Administration Department to assess and monitor internal control systems.
- Support the Finance & Administration Manager in improving the overall financial management of WWF Cameroon projects, ensuring they meet high-performance standards.
- Conduct reviews of internal control systems in field offices and report potential risks to the Country Director.
- Ensure all WWF Cameroon implementing partners comply with WWF’s financial standards and policies.
- Oversee the implementation of financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with national laws and WWF International’s guidelines.
- Streamline financial processes within the office and promote new initiatives.
- Identify training needs for finance and non-finance staff, and organize capacity-building sessions to improve performance.
Core Functions
- Risk Management: Maintain and update WWF Cameroon’s Risk and Management Register, and ensure regular follow-up actions to mitigate identified risks.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all projects comply with WWF International’s policies, donor requirements, and the organization’s control framework.
- Audit Coordination: Prepare and coordinate both internal and external audits, conducting self-internal audits in line with the Field Operations Manual (FOM).
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs, tools, and support to improve financial performance across the Country Office.
Profile Overview: Risk and Compliance Officer
Are you passionate about conservation and sustainable development? WWF Cameroon is looking for a qualified Risk and Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team.
Required Qualifications
- Accounting certification such as ACCA or CPA, or a Master’s degree in international business, finance, or an MBA.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial and accounting roles is essential.
- At least 2 years of management experience with a proven track record working with multicultural and decentralized teams.
- In-depth knowledge of financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Experience in implementing new systems and processes.
- Prior experience in the NGO sector and international exposure is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with the WWF Network would be a plus.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of financial management practices and related internal control policies.
- Excellent analytical skills and experience in risk management.
- High level of accountability and commitment to delivering excellent results.
- Proven project management and operational skills, with an ability to stay well-organized in managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to train others and communicate complex financial concepts clearly and simply.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and influence senior management and staff across different functional areas.
- Experience working in diverse cultural environments and the ability to drive change and inspire high performance.
- Decisive, proactive, and collaborative with excellent communication skills.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
- Proficiency in computer office applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Willingness to travel to field projects.
- A strong passion and commitment for conservation and sustainable development.

Working Relationships
- Internal: Collaborates closely with Project Managers, Programme Administrative and Finance Officers (PAFOs), and Programme Portfolio Finance Supervisors to meet finance unit goals. Regular interaction with Regional and International Finance Units.
- External: Works with external auditors and consultants.
