About EVIHDAF:

EVIHDAF is an international research and development organization based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, serving the West and Central Africa region. Our multidisciplinary team, fluent in both English and French, brings together innovative thinking with global perspectives and local expertise. Our team is further supported by regional and global consultants, some of whom are affiliated with universities. We operate a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit satellite office in Parakou, Benin.

EVIHDAF provides a wide range of services including Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (RMEL), Data Analytics, Survey Research, Research Capacity Strengthening, and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) research. Our key focus areas include Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH), Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN), Malaria and Infectious Diseases, Humanitarian/Vulnerable Contexts, and Support to Service Delivery.

In anticipation of a USAID-funded project focused on Regional Implementation Science Research for Improved Sexual and Reproductive Health (ISR-SRH) in West and Central Africa, we are seeking an experienced Senior Manager/Director of Communications & Stakeholder Engagement. This key role will lead the development and execution of communications strategies and stakeholder engagement at national, regional, and global levels, helping to generate evidence and translate it into actionable outcomes. The selected candidate will also oversee EVIHDAF’s Corporate Communications team. The role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and willingness to travel, both locally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Design and manage stakeholder engagement strategies at national, regional, and global levels to support the ISR-SRH project’s activities, including the generation of evidence and learning.
  • Develop initiatives to promote the ISR-SRH brand, secure partnerships, and identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Actively seek out opportunities for brand enhancement and increased visibility.
  • Manage internal stakeholder engagement activities to maintain high levels of awareness and participation among ISR-SRH consortium partners.

Communications

  • Lead the development and execution of a communications strategy to support the ISR-SRH project, ensuring consistent messaging across key stakeholder groups.
  • Supervise the creation of content for the project newsletter, ensuring regular production and distribution.
  • Maintain quality control for internal and external communications, including digital platforms and publications.
  • Identify and capitalize on media and PR opportunities, maintaining strong relationships with media outlets.
  • Oversee the development and management of digital and social media strategies, ensuring platforms remain relevant to target audiences.
  • Provide strategic advice on stakeholder engagement and communication plans for new projects and areas of operation.

Project Support

  • Contribute to project deliverables including annual work plans and program reports.
  • Oversee logistics for all project-related events and facilitate when required.
  • Collaborate with the research team to create visual aids such as graphics, maps, flowcharts, and diagrams for reports and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, communications, journalism, or community development is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in managing communications and stakeholder engagement for development projects, with proven expertise in disseminating project findings and engaging diverse partners.
  • Strong communication skills, including excellent presentation and writing abilities in both English and French.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate politically sensitive subjects and work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders in West and Central Africa.
  • Proven experience in event management and the ability to handle multiple tasks and large, diverse groups in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and collaborate with others.
