EVIHDAF’s comprehensive services encompass Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (RMEL); Data Analytics and Survey Research; Research Capacity Strengthening; and Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Research. Our primary focus areas include Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH); Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN); Malaria and Infectious Diseases; Humanitarian/Vulnerable Contexts; and Support to Service Delivery.

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to fill the position of Nutrition & Food Security (Nutrition/FS) Research Associate. The successful candidate will primarily be based in our Cameroon office, with the possibility of remote work arrangements. This role demands adaptability, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. It may also involve both domestic and international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead proposal development initiatives to establish a robust portfolio of nutrition-related projects, and lead the production of various publications (Research Briefs, Working Papers, and peer-reviewed articles), capitalizing on EVIHDAF’s existing collaborations with UNICEF, Concern Worldwide, and the World Food Program (WFP).
  • Provide substantial support to or assume leadership on nutrition-focused projects, particularly EVIHDAF’s involvement in the five-year (2022-2027), USAID-funded social and behavior change (SBC) research program known as Agency for All.
  • Oversee publication endeavors, including Research Briefs, Working Papers, and peer-reviewed articles, and actively contribute to the expansion of EVIHDAF’s research utilization capabilities.
  • Participate in the creation of work plans, diligently monitor their implementation, and make necessary adjustments as projects evolve.
  • Assist the team in meeting regulatory requirements by effectively coordinating documentation and submission processes.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Nutrition, Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of research and publication experience specifically in the areas of nutrition and food security.
  • Demonstrated excellence in scientific writing and presentation skills, evidenced by a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and executing a range of quantitative and qualitative research activities, encompassing data analysis, reporting, and dissemination.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal) in either English or French; fluency in both languages is highly advantageous.
  • The ability to effectively convey complex research rationales, designs, and findings in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer systems and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite and various data analysis software packages (qualitative and quantitative).
  • A proven capacity to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest or prior involvement in stakeholder engagement and research utilization initiatives.
  • Proven track record of working within the West and Central Africa region.
  • Familiarity with USAID-funded projects is advantageous, as is prior experience collaborating with UNICEF.
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required; at least elementary/basic proficiency in French is also necessary.
