EVIHDAF is an international research and development non-profit organization with headquarters in Yaoundé, Cameroon, serving West and Central Africa. Our diverse team of English and French-speaking researchers combines innovative thinking and rigorous methodologies, possessing both global perspectives and local expertise. Regional and global consultants, some affiliated with universities, enhance our team’s capabilities. We currently manage a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data Unit in Parakou, Benin.

Position Summary

We seek a dynamic and motivated individual for the position of Family Planning & Reproductive Health (FP/RH) Research Associate (or Scientist). The successful candidate will primarily be based in our Cameroon office, with potential for remote work arrangements. This role demands flexibility, strong organizational abilities, and the willingness to work under pressure. Both local and international travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to or lead projects in RMNCAH, particularly EVIHDAF’s activities under the five-year (2022-2027) USAID-funded social and behavior change research (SBC) program, Agency for All.
  • Spearhead publication efforts, producing research briefs, working papers, and peer-reviewed articles, and contribute to expanding EVIHDAF’s research utilization capabilities.
  • Assist in proposal development to broaden EVIHDAF’s project portfolio in RMNCAH and MIYCN.
  • Collaborate on work plans, oversee their implementation, and adapt them as needed.
  • Ensure the team’s compliance with regulatory requirements by coordinating documentation and submissions.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Demography, Sociology, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of research and publication experience in RMNCAH.
  • Exceptional scientific writing and presentation skills, with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Experience in designing and implementing various quantitative and qualitative research activities, including data analysis, reporting, and dissemination.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills in both English and French.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex research concepts, designs, and findings, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software (qualitative or quantitative).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SBC research, gender/social norms, individual and community agency, and empowerment.
  • Interest or experience in stakeholder engagement and research utilization.
  • Experience working in West and Central Africa.
  • Familiarity with USAID-funded projects.
  • Full professional proficiency in English, and at least elementary/basic proficiency in French.
