CAMALCO CAMEROON S.A. is a fast-growing mining company committed to the responsible and sustainable development of bauxite resources in Cameroon. Our flagship project, located in the Adamawa region, is currently in the infrastructure development phase, which includes: Construction of a dedicated mining platform, IRF (Integrated Refining Facility), Port terminal, Access roads

This project is of national strategic importance and will significantly contribute to local industrialization, job creation, and community development. As part of our team expansion, we are seeking qualified and motivated professionals for the following positions:

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS (M/F)

Role: The Director of Operations leads the operational implementation of the company’s strategy, managing activities and stakeholder engagement to achieve production objectives during a major infrastructure development phase, ensuring sustainable performance, technical rigor, and organizational efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the company’s operational strategy in alignment with its vision
  • Contribute to executive committee decisions and strategic project direction
  • Promote a culture of excellence, responsibility, and safety
  • Oversee Geology, Mine Planning, Mine Operations, Transportation (road & rail), Port Operations, Construction, and related activities
  • Supervise the Construction Engineer and ensure timely, safe, and compliant infrastructure delivery
  • Integrate and optimize operations across the mining-rail-port value chain
  • Allocate human, material, and financial resources effectively
  • Implement and monitor KPIs to track operational performance
  • Ensure strict adherence to HSE and environmental standards
  • Identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Structure teams to encourage skill development and knowledge transfer
  • Support change management in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • Promote digital innovation and sustainable practices
  • Build a high-performance organization in a developing context
  • Coordinate multicultural, multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites
  • Manage the ramp-up of operations while aligning construction with operational readiness
  • Attract, train, and retain skilled technical and operational talent
  • Ensure compliance with evolving environmental and social standards

Profile Required:

  • Mining Engineer with experience in surface mining operations
  • 20–25 years of experience in mining operations
  • Experience in international, fast-paced, transformative environments
  • High level of autonomy and responsibility
  • Strong managerial culture based on transparency, rigor, commitment, and collaboration
  • Fluent in English; working knowledge of French is an asset

LEGAL COUNSEL (M/F)

Role: The Legal Counsel ensures the legal security of the company’s operations, advises management, ensures regulatory compliance, anticipates legal risks, and contributes to responsible and sustainable governance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Advise the CEO on strategic and operational legal matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate key contracts (EPC, mining, transport, community agreements, etc.)
  • Monitor and interpret laws related to mining, business, labor, environment, tax, and procurement
  • Handle corporate legal secretariat and governance obligations
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations and permitting requirements
  • Manage litigation and disputes in coordination with external law firms
  • Support internal teams with legal guidance on operational issues
  • Develop internal policies for legal risk management and contract governance
  • Raise legal awareness among managers and staff
  • Represent the company before administrative, regulatory, and judicial authorities

Profile Required:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Law, Mining Law, Public Law, or International Law
  • 12–15 years of experience acquired in a top law firm or a similar in-house role within an industrial company
  • Strong expertise in contract law, mining law, labor law, fiscal law, corporate law, litigation, infrastructure law, environmental law, and other relevant legal areas
  • Proven ability to negotiate, secure, and structure complex agreements.
  • Fluency in both French and English, written and spoken.

CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER (M/F)

Responsible for delivering the construction of the MSI, Hauling Road, IRF, and other infrastructure projects in line with company requirements, on time and within budget.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee and validate field surveys (topography, geotechnical, hydrology) for all infrastructure components.
  • Support the preparation of scopes of work, tendering processes, contractor selection, and contract finalization.
  • Supervise the construction of MSI, Hauling Road, IRF, and related infrastructure, ensuring compliance with budget and schedule.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including local authorities, communities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure alignment with ESIA consultants for infrastructure projects as per company requirements.

Profile Required

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with 10–15 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive project management experience in major project development, construction, and execution in civil engineering.
  • Strong background in managing large-scale civil engineering projects (approximately USD 50M).
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and project delivery safely and effectively.
  • Practical, hands-on, and results-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in both French and English.

PORT OPERATIONS COORDINATOR (M/F)

Coordinate with engineering firms for the design, construction supervision, and commissioning of the port. Supervise the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of the port after commissioning, in line with company requirements, budget, and schedule.

Main Responsibilities

  • Engineering Coordination: Collaborate with engineering firms to ensure port designs meet project standards; review and validate technical drawings.
  • Construction Supervision: Oversee port construction or upgrades, conduct site inspections, and address on-site issues to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Port Commissioning: Lead the commissioning process, ensuring all systems are operational and safety standards are met; manage transition to operations.
  • Operations Management: Manage daily port operations post-commissioning, coordinate with the railways team, and ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Budget & Schedule Oversight: Develop and monitor budgets and timelines to ensure project delivery within scope, cost, and deadlines.

Profile Required

  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 8–10 years of experience in port construction and operations, preferably in the mining sector.
  • Certifications in port management to handle complex construction and operational demands.
  • Solid technical expertise in port engineering, construction standards, and regulations.
  • Good understanding of environmental and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in both French and English (spoken and written).
