Job Opportunity: Criminal Fraud Investigator (CFI) at the U.S. Mission in Cameroon

The U.S. Mission in Cameroon is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Criminal Fraud Investigator (CFI) within the Regional Security Office (RSO). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and security efforts of the U.S. government while tackling complex criminal investigations.

Salary: XAF FCFA 23,335,933 per year.

Job Overview:

The Criminal Fraud Investigator (CFI) will be a key member of the Consular Section, working under the guidance of the Assistant Regional Security Officer-Investigator (ARSO-I). This role involves conducting in-depth investigations into various criminal activities, including:

  • Counterfeit and forged travel documents
  • Human trafficking and smuggling
  • U.S. fugitive extraditions
  • Identity theft, bribery, and extortion
  • Conspiracy, misrepresentation, malfeasance, and terrorist travel

The CFI will collaborate with local authorities, immigration agencies, airport security, law enforcement, and prosecutors to ensure successful investigations. The role also involves regular interaction with U.S. law enforcement agencies and attorney’s offices across the U.S. The investigator may be tasked with managing locally engaged staff involved in investigations related to national security and criminal activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sensitive and routine criminal investigations in various fields such as fraud, human trafficking, and terrorism.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including police forces, immigration officials, and airport security.
  • Collaborate with U.S. law enforcement and attorney’s offices for investigative support.
  • Support interagency requests to advance U.S. national security efforts.
  • Assist in coordinating complex, high-profile investigations that involve both host nation and U.S. law enforcement.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Security Clearance:

  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Certificate or Public Trust background investigation clearance.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Law Enforcement, Security, International Relations, Politics, Criminal Justice, or Forensics is required.

Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in a criminal or investigative field. This experience should ideally be within the local government, in conjunction with U.S. authorities, or related fields such as criminal justice, security, or administrative investigations.

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in English and French (speaking, reading, and writing) is required. This will be tested.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of local criminal law and judicial proceedings.
  • Ability to understand criminal activities and the modus operandi of criminal organizations in the region.
  • Expertise in analytical and legal research, producing detailed investigative reports.
  • Proficiency with analytical software (e.g., i2 link analysis) and digital evidence collection tools.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills for regular briefings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other investigative tools.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license for at least the last five (5) years.

  • Position Title: Mason
  • Salary: XAF FCFA 7,731,988 / Per Year

Job Overview

The Mason position is part of the Facility Management (FAC) Section, reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. This role involves performing both scheduled and unscheduled masonry maintenance and repair work on mission buildings, including residential properties (both owned and leased). The duties include constructing buildings, foundations, and other structures using materials like concrete, brick, and other masonry components. The Mason will also be responsible for installing floor tiles, repairing concrete surfaces, and working on roofs as required. Additionally, the position requires occasional operation of official vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled masonry repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Construct buildings and foundations using materials such as concrete, brick, and stone.
  • Install floor tiles, repair concrete surfaces, and perform roof repairs.
  • Operate official vehicles as necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed with precision, durability, and aesthetic appeal.

Qualifications and Requirements

General Requirements

  • All candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Certificate or Public Trust clearance through a background investigation.
  • A background check and possibly a pre-employment medical exam are required.
  • The selected candidate must be able to start work promptly upon receiving necessary authorizations, clearances, and certifications.

Educational Requirements

  • Secondary education is required.
  • At least one (1) year of vocational training in masonry from an accredited institute or workshop that produces journeyman-level technicians is required.

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in masonry, construction, or facility management is required.
  • Experience should be at the journeyman level in the building trades.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of masonry materials, including natural and artificial stones, brick, block, concrete, mortar, plaster stucco, tile grout, sealants, and waterproofing.
  • Ability to read blueprints and sketches related to masonry projects.
  • Proficient in using tools of the trade such as trowels, hammers, chisels, and other specialized equipment.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to identify, report, and resolve issues related to masonry work.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts and handle emergency calls during off-hours.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have at least five (5) years of driving experience.

Language Requirements

  • Limited proficiency in both English and French (speaking, reading, and writing) is required. Language skills may be tested.
