Additionally, the ICRC endeavors to alleviate suffering by advocating for and reinforcing humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.

Job Offer: Management Department Team Member

The ICRC’s Central Africa Delegation in Yaoundé is seeking a qualified individual to join the “Management” department. Details are as follows:

  • Location: Bamenda (North West – Cameroon)
  • Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term contract (Only open to Cameroonians)
  • Start Date: Immediate

Purpose

The role of the HoSD Assistant, under the supervision of the Head of Sub-Delegation (HOSD) and in coordination with various operational departments, is to assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring the response to humanitarian needs in the area of responsibility of the sub-delegation.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Information Collection and Analysis
  • Gather information on political, humanitarian, socio-economic, and security situations.
  • Analyze collected data and ensure ongoing monitoring of the sub-delegation’s operational environment.
  1. Networking and Interactions
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts, including civil and security actors, tribal and traditional authorities, and political parties.
  • Assist in establishing and nurturing relationships with armed groups to support humanitarian efforts.
  1. Conflict Analysis
  • Contribute to the analysis of armed violence dynamics and its humanitarian impacts.
  1. Stakeholder Analysis
  • Maintain an updated database of key interlocutors and influential actors.
  1. Engagement and Advocacy
  • Attend meetings with authorities and humanitarian partners.
  • Support reporting activities with relevant stakeholders.
  1. Needs Assessment
  • Assist in identifying and understanding the humanitarian needs of populations affected by armed violence.
  • Organize and participate in multidisciplinary assessments across various sectors.
  1. Security Management
  • Assist in managing and implementing security protocols and frameworks.
  1. Risk Monitoring
  • Support risk mapping exercises and ongoing monitoring of identified risks.
  1. Strategic Planning
  • Contribute to defining priorities for the Sub-Delegation’s activities.
  1. Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare various reports, including mission reports, interview summaries, thematic analyses, etc.
  • Document internal and external meeting proceedings and maintain records appropriately.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  1. Educational Background
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in International Relations, Political Science, Law, Communication, Management, Conflict Studies, or related fields.
  1. Contextual Knowledge
  • Profound understanding of the socio-political context in North West Cameroon.
  1. Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 5 to 6 years of experience working in the humanitarian sector.
  1. Language Skills
  • Proficiency in English (both oral and written), Pidgin, and French.
  • Knowledge of other local languages would be advantageous.
  1. Technical Skills
  • Familiarity with computer software, particularly Microsoft Windows and Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  1. Interpersonal Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and actively listen.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in report writing.
  • Personal Attributes
  • Capacity to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative.
  • Possesses discretion, adaptability, self-assurance, and availability.
  • Skilled in engaging with diverse stakeholders and interlocutors.
