ECOBANK CAMEROUN S.A. is currently seeking a dedicated Internal Control Officer to work throughout the national territory. The position is located in Douala.

Job Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Internal Control Officer is to oversee the implementation of an efficient control process in alignment with policies, instructions, strategies, and other established documents within the affiliate.
Job Context: In this role, the Internal Control Officer will provide crucial support to the Senior Internal Controller. The successful candidate must demonstrate a proven ability to translate internal control requirements into practical business applications and solutions that complement growth and strategic initiatives. This position plays a vital role in ensuring adherence to established policies and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the control framework within the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Head Office & Branch Control:
- Ensure strict adherence to policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
- Identify and address transaction errors, omissions, discrepancies, and irregularities promptly, escalating issues to the relevant authority for necessary action.
- Conduct thorough assessments of foreign exchange risks associated with banking activities.
- Establish and monitor controls, acting as an early warning system for potential failures in key control activities within Securities, including segregation of duties, approvals, verifications, reconciliations, and portfolio reviews.
- Investigate and escalate unusual items, high-value open items, and other significant control breaches according to the escalation procedure.
- Verify the monthly proofs of all General Ledger (GL) accounts and ensure reconciliations are completed by the responsible officers.
- Oversee branch compliance with cash limits, operational policies, and internal controls, providing guidance to branches under the internal controller’s supervision.
- Alert management to major or persistent control infractions, breaches, or areas requiring improvement.
- Work towards achieving full or substantial automation of key operational controls.
- Implement and monitor the affiliate dashboard to track and manage performance indicators.
- Ensure the affiliate’s compliance with key risk indicators defined by the bank.
- Undertake any additional activities as assigned by the supervisor.
JOB PROFILE
- Experience & Qualifications:
- Possess a
minimum of 7 years of work experience in financial institutions and consulting firms. – Demonstrated experience in control, audit functions, operations, and finance. – Hold a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Banking, Information Systems, or a related field.
