Organizational Setting

FAO’s partnership and liaison office in Cameroon provides a wide range of technical support to the government aiming at improving food and nutritional security of the vulnerable populations. To achieve the set objectives, there is a constant need to fundraise from institutional public sector partners. FAO’s recent commitment to further engage with the private sector has created the need to have a dedicated stream targeting partners from the private/for profit sector.

Reporting Lines

The programme assistant will report to the Emergency Operations Specialist.

Technical Focus

The programme specialist will work in close collaboration with Resource Mobilisation teams (HQ/RAF) and will foster the development of new partnerships mainly with private sector organizations.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Contribute to development and implementation of a resource mobilization plan for FAO Cameroon, with a specific focus a private sector partnership.
  • Develop an internal memo to clarify the workflow of partnership development with private sector entities
  • Contribute to securing and allocating to actual projects the funds committed through the partnership agreement between FAO and the government of Cameroon
  • Contribute to the dialogue and networking and fundraising with relevant stakeholders/actors and strategic partners from private sector entities, ministries and parastatals)
  • Contribute to the due diligence process for identified private for-profit institutions and not for profit institutions, in liaison with HQ partnerships division and contribute to formalization of partnership agreement with the same,.
  • Serve as focal point between PSU HQ division and FAO Cameroon

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in agribusiness, private sector development, business management, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of English and French. Working knowledge of a third UN language will be considered an added value to the position.
  • National of Cameroon or resident in the country with a regular work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable;
  • Experience in the field of resource mobilization and programme management, preferably in humanitarian settings;
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely and effectively;
  • Work experience in the areas of advocacy and communication is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of UN or standard operational rules and procedures and project/programme administrative management procedures is considered an asset;
  • Ability to work independently, under time pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Thoroughness and reliability, sense of diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent communications, writing and editorial skills with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to use own initiative, multi-task and excellent organizational skills.
