Job Description
The purpose of a Finance Coordinator is to implement delegated area of responsibility. The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
- Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at country office& area offices level;
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements;
- Prepare and submit report reports and analysis ;
- Ensure proper filing of all support documents on office 365;
- Support line managers in procedures and require support team trainings;
- Management of Finance team;
- Ensure that the accounting, monitoring and reporting are according to procedures
- Support project staff in financial matters ;
- Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the area ;
- Ensure development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures.
Specific responsibilities
- Ensure that budgeting, financial reporting and other financial processes take place in adherence to Financial Handbook, other NRC policies and donor, auditor and the authorities requirements;
- Provide up-to-date analysis and required reports of the financial situation in the projects and the programme to the Finance Manager, Grants Manager, Area Managers, PDMs, Project Coordinators ;
- Assist Finance Manager in preparation of field Z costs and ensure that these costs are correctly charged;
- Ensure accurate maintenance of all NRC financial and accounting files and transactions;
- Facilitate monthly Budget versus Actual (BvA) reports with budget holder and follow up on action points;
- Maintain Master budget update;
- Be proactive in communication with donors to ensure that new donor requirements are taken on board;
- Promote exchange of information and cooperation with relevant department in office as well as with PDMs and coordinators;
- Ensure proper management of accounting documents and records;
- Support Project Managers in budget preparation as well as proposals development;
- Check and verify NRC Cameroon payrolls before payments are made;
- Prepare and submit periodic financial reports as appropriate ;
- Assign duties, supervise, train and appraise Country & Area Finance Officers and Assistants.
Generic professional competencies:
- Experience from working as a Finance Coordinator in a humanitarian/recovery context;
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts;
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile ;
- Experience working with donors like NMFA/NORAD, GFFO, ECHO, USAID, UN, AFD and SIDA will be a strong advantage;
- Should be bilingual, speaking and writing English and French;
- Excellent computer skills;
- Ability to function independently and as a work team leader/facilitator;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Strict attention to policy and practice detail .
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or Accounting;
- Certified Public Accountant (ACCA, CPA, CIA, CIMA);
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience progressive experience in INGO or audit firms;
- At least 2 years’ work experience in a similar role within a non-governmental organization (NGO), donor or multilateral agency.

Fix term contract of 12 months
Duty Station: Yaoundé with 40% of field travel
