Scholarship Coverage and Benefits
The Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship designed to provide international students with optimal study conditions throughout the duration of their academic program. The scholarship covers all essential expenses.
Scholarship Benefits Include:
- Full coverage of tuition fees, including registration, admission, examination, and orientation fees
- Round-trip economy-class airfare between the student’s home country and Brunei Darussalam
- Monthly personal allowance of BND 500 (approximately USD 385)
- Monthly meal allowance of BND 150 (approximately USD 115)
- Annual book and study materials allowance of BND 600 (approximately USD 462)
- Free accommodation at a university residence or polytechnic institution
Luggage Allowance at the End of Studies:
- BND 250 for return to an ASEAN country
- BND 500 for return to a non-ASEAN country
- Comprehensive medical insurance for the entire duration of the scholarship
Note: Scholarship recipients are advised to obtain additional personal insurance prior to departure for enhanced coverage.
Eligibility Requirements
Before applying for the Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship, candidates must ensure that they meet all eligibility criteria. Scholarship awards are strictly subject to the following conditions:
1. Nationality and Residency
- The scholarship is exclusively for international students.
- Applicants must not hold permanent residency in Brunei and must not have previously studied in Brunei.
2. Age Requirements
- Maximum age of 25 years for Diploma and Bachelor’s programs
- Maximum age of 35 years for Master’s programs
(as of 1 July 2026)
3. English Language Proficiency
Applicants must demonstrate adequate proficiency in English through one of the following (or an equivalent recognized test):
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.0
- TOEFL: minimum score of 550
4. Academic and Personal Profile
- Strong academic performance
- Good physical and mental health
- Exemplary personal conduct in accordance with Brunei’s laws, cultural values, and religious principles
Scholarship recipients are not permitted to receive other funding or engage in paid employment during their studies.
The scholarship does not cover dependents, and no family allowance is provided.
