Job vacancy: Credit Analyst Consumer Loans – ECOBANK

ECOBANK CAMEROUN S.A. is seeking to hire a Credit Analyst for Consumer Loans, who is open to working nationwide. The role is based in Douala.

Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide operational credit support to the Consumer Banking team, ensuring full accountability for the credit analysis process across the Consumer Banking portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Risk Management (35%)

  • Review and analyze loan files and submit them for approval.
  • Ensure the optimal packaging of personal loans to support the growth of high-quality assets.
  • Monitor the performance of personal loans, tracking both volume and revenue growth, while ensuring the Non-Performing Loan (NFL) ratio stays within the bank’s acceptable limits.
  • Maximize asset and revenue growth by leveraging opportunities across all business segments.
  • Monitor and track staff performance (Relationship Managers), aligning their targets with revenue growth objectives.
  • Take full responsibility for the review, structuring, and approval of credit facilities (e.g., CA Pockogel).
  • Gather all necessary information for credit analysis to ensure timely and comprehensive credit commentary and evaluation.
  • Maintain the integrity and quality of the Consumer Banking portfolio, ensuring that the credit standards are met.
  • Follow up on the booking of credit facilities with the Credit Administration and Treasury Operations teams.
  • Immediately report any credit deterioration to take proactive corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the Credit Administration Department to continuously assess portfolio risks and maintain an acceptable risk rating.
  • Provide back-office support to Relationship Officers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Conduct market research and provide intelligence reports to identify potential business risks and opportunities, ensuring the bank remains proactive.
  • Assume responsibility for the bank’s lending relationships with clients, ensuring decisions are based on accurate and complete information.
  • Regularly monitor customers’ credit performance, dynamically assessing their conditions based on new interim information and updates.
  • Support the core sales team in field marketing activities to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service (25%)

  • Ensure the timely processing of loan files within the Service Level Agreement (SLA) to achieve the minimum customer service rating, ensuring quality service delivery.
  • Regularly update Relationship Managers on the status of loan files.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Officers to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing proactive and reliable service.

Self-Development & Team Collaboration (15%)

  • Share knowledge and best practices within the unit and with Relationship Managers to enhance team performance.
  • Ensure effective and timely reporting for use by the relevant business segments.
  • Stay updated on bank credit policies, credit products, interest rates, as well as key economic and social developments in the environment.

Risk and Compliance (25%)

  • Maintain a disciplined approach to the target market, ensuring the development of a healthy loan portfolio that meets or exceeds volume, revenue, and Non-Performing Loan (NPL) standards of 3%.
  • Ensure full compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), legal and regulatory requirements, along with audits and governance standards.
  • Adhere to all Group and Affiliate policies and procedures related to Personal Loans Product Programs.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by management.

Reporting

  • Report directly to the Head of Asset Products.

Job Profile

Experience

  • At least 5 years of related experience, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused and results-oriented, with the ability to meet targets and exceed expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with clients and team members.
  • Capable of pulling together various resources to deliver customer solutions effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are highly desirable.
  • A result-driven team player committed to achieving business goals.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree, HND, or equivalent in a related field of study.

Personal Attributes

  • Analytical mindset with a strong understanding of credit policies and procedures. Prior experience in credit processes is preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork and cooperation skills.
  • Decision-making and supervisory abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
