Role and Responsibilities: 

As a Security Engineer at Afriland First Bank, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures that safeguard our financial systems and customer information. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, identify vulnerabilities, and respond to security incidents. Your responsibilities will encompass:

• Implementing and managing security measures across our IT infrastructure, applications, and network.
• Conducting regular security assessments and penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities.
• Developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborating with development and operations teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle.
• Monitoring and analyzing security logs, alerts, and incidents to detect and respond to threats.
• Managing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security tools.
• Participating in incident response activities and ensuring timely resolution of security incidents.
• Performing risk assessments and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Keeping up-to-date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
• Providing security training and awareness programs for employees.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience as a Security Engineer or similar role, preferably in the financial industry.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, concepts, and technologies.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS).
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.
• Proficiency in scripting languages for security automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Familiarity with cloud security and containerization (e.g., AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to analyze and interpret security logs and event data.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

• Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), etc.
• Experience with secure coding practices and application security.
• Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
• Exposure to compliance auditing and regulatory requirements in the financial sector.
• Understanding of incident response and digital forensics.
